John Muir

“Mountain Man” John Muir famously founded the Sierra Club in an effort to defend the Giant Sequoia of Yosemite NP and what later was named Muir Woods, and to stop the Hetch Hetchy dam project in Yosemite Valley; which was designed to provide potable water to the city of San Francisco. San Francisco was the Western terminus of the Pacific Line: the Transcontinental Railroad. Sequioa was prized as floorboards in NYC brownstones… the brownstone for NYC residents was quarried primarily at Portland CT Brownstone Quarries.
