Very much a student of my English Literature educated Navy Officer Father, I learned vocabulary, grammar, and syntax for decades before my University experience. Then, I forayed into a dialectical and cultural wilderness of our USA’s schism of ideations and their places and times. For various reasons my University years had begun at the 1889 Morrill Act school of Clemson University; where I was mortally wounded in my cerebellum (Mortem 1994); nearly upon arrival, by a NJ USNGI… making the rest of my life “Post Mortem” and thus “unfit” for the OCS I had contemplated. And, subsequent to being mortally wounded in SC, I was transferred to MA and to UMass Amherst. At Amherst I was treated as a Southerner on account of my acquired lingual drawl terms. Additionally, knowledge obtained in the South regarding organizations such as the Klu Klux Klan were so abhorrent to my Alma Mater that most undergraduates and staff could not discuss them. Later, the false accusations of prejudicially tainted predisposition to Southern sentiment were exacerbated by WWI Trust to Corporation era patent war allegiances between STP, GE, and Ford in particular with German Rhur interests regarding anthracite liquefaction …which threatened US Businesses, and at UMass; myself …with the stigma of fascism.
So, subsequent to the mortal wound in my cerebellum I was transferred North from SC to the 1863 Union Officer’s Academy at Amherst Massachusetts where I completed my Bachelor of Science. It was at UMass where I achieved my resultant degree in Energy, Natural Resources and Environment.
I was first hospitalized in 1998 and promptly disappeared until well after my eventual 2004 graduation from UMass. That is to say that my brain injury has put me through a $20,000,000.00 psychiatric pharmacology ordeal that has only recently had success over albeit strange and somehow intermittent suffering. Meanwhile, University seems not to have ended. My existence is very much comprised of seemingly unending cloistered study. Additionally, SSA and my status as a Disabled American have granted me a funded exemption from the dichotomy of television educated life. Hermeticism has been generative of a vantage from which I can focus on books and what I consider reality. yet as with any effort concerning book covers, I likely would not wear a Red Cap in NYC nor a Blue Cap in much of the South.
There are divides in so many things. Partisan vehemence is everywhere beneath the higher cause of Federalism, championed by the “Articles of Confederation” Union of Northern Confederate States and beginning in earnest with the Union Legislation of 1862.
If it is political partisanship or the limitrophe between science and fiction… it often seems that in cases of knowing what side and dialectical context of the Mason Dixon limitrophe one is on when suffering with an “invisible brain wound”, or if one is in a particular “Zone” of the 1862 Morrill Land Grant University Act… with the act’s stipulation of a “primary industry” charter for a particular truth at each of the 1862 and 1889 universities …with their individually and specifically chartered Morrill Act legal structure…
Truth itself is subject to interpretation, regionally, and, most people do not want truth to be subject to anyone other than themselves or perhaps their devices. So, I write. Yet, pertaining to the adage “when in Rome… do as the Roman’s do”; I no longer find solace in the politic of any State. In fact, I believe it is time to end the partisanship, especially as promulgated by the media industrial complex… and; to assert the Union victory of Federalism that replaced the states rights of places like SC, MA, AL, and NY with… our Federation.
Finally, the vantage of science is one of quantitative doubt of observable phenomenon such that stipulations of irrefutable truth become definitively isolable.
